The article reports on the polemic against thesis that the most adequate function to analysis and forecast of trends of the city development is a logistic curve. The author carried out the analysis of trends of some city's development measures for Białystok in 1960—2006. The results of the analysis were that no one of the development measures are subjected to logistic trends in the examined period, and changes in analyzed categories were under the strong influence of external factors in relation to the city. Presented changes' trends of particular city's development measures are linear, near-linear or segmental. The results of the problem analysis showed that the path of cities development can't be described with one type of trend in such a long term like one city living. In the findings the Author informs that the use of logistic curve is reasonable only when the process was elemental with the constant restrictions. In the case of Polish cities for the large part of analyzed period the vehemence of process was limited by government intervention or by centralized require-distributive system.(original abstract)
