The article presents the relative influence of macroeconomic indicators of consumer confidence in Poland. The analysis was based upon monthly data from the period January 2004-July 2008. The survey was carried out using the epsilon method, which allows calculating the relative weights of indicators, taking into account the correlation between the regressors. The application of this approach has enabled the imultaneous examination of the impact, of each of the 13 individual variabus, on particular consumer activity indicators. The most essential influence on the opinions and forecasts of respondents exents the information on the unemployment rate, the number of job offers, the Swiss franc exchange rate, the retail trade turnover and the value of credits granted to individuals by the banking sector. Minor impact of the credit interests in real terms was noted. The relativcy high amount of average earnings was important only for forecasts of significant purchases and saving money.(original abstract)
