W pracy przedstawiono system rachunków narodowych w Polsce, jego rolę w statystyce publicznej, i wreszcie cele, możliwości i braki w rachunkach narodowych systemu. Został opisany obecny stan i kierunki rozwoju w dziedzinie rachunków narodowych tj. wdrożenie i stosowanie nowych standardów i metodologii, stały rozwój systemu informacji dla analizy społeczno-ekonomicznej, a także nowe inicjatywy badawcze zarówno w Polsce i na forum międzynarodowym.

The paper presents Polish system of national accounts, its role in official statistics and finally purposes, possibilities and shortcomings of the national accounts system. Current situation and the most important future developments in the area of national accounts have been described. The development is defined by implementation and using new standards and methodology, permanent development of the information system for the socio-economic analysis, as well as following development of new research initiatives and activities both in Poland and on the international forum.(original abstract)
