The profitability of pork production may be connected to the relation analysis of pork purchase and corn as well as forage or piglet prices. Using econometric modeling to estimate the profitability of pork production based on borderline price relations: pigs to corn or pigs to piglets is presented in the article. When the relations expand over some level, in pig prices favour, we observe an increasing profitability of pork production. Short period forecasts of farm product prices help to estimate a production profitability. This allows the farmers to take rational decisions on the pig breeding quantity. (original abstract)
