On 13 May 1937, anti-Jewish unrest erupted in Brzesc triggered by the murder of a local policeman by a Jewish butcher. The rioters looted several hundred Jewish shops. The report by the military counter-intelligence service contains a detailed account of the developments, describes the attitude of the local authorities and the police, the mood of the Jewish and Christian population and the campaign of aid for the victims of the pogrom, mounted by Jewish organizations.
