'Schematyzmy galicyjskie' was a common name of the staff yearbook published under different names by Lvov authorities (known as 'Gubernium' and then as 'Namiestnictwo') from 1776 to 1914 (except for the years 1777-1779, 1783-1784, 1804). The first yearbook was published in French, the second and third in Polish. The 1782-1869 yearbooks were in German and those published from 1870 onwards were again in Polish. 'Szematyzm Królestwa Galicji i Lodomerii' was the fifteenth and last title. The periodical contains staff records of authorities, political, administrative and religious bodies, schools, institutions and societies. It is an invaluable source of information on the history of Galicia. No library in Poland has a complete set of all published yearbooks. Kraków boasts the richest collection, but Warsaw has the largest choice of 18th century editions. The yearbooks are usually listed in library catalogues under the following headings: 'Schematyzm', 'Schematismums', 'Szematyzm' or sometimes, but rarely, 'Galicja'.
