FORGIVENESS IN CHRIST'S SALVATION WORK ACCORDING TO SAINT PAUL (Przebaczenie w zbawczym dziele Jezusa Chrystusa wedlug sw. Pawla)
Languages of publication
The article aims to show a relation between forgiveness and God's salvific plan as presented in the letters of Saint Paul. The foundation stone of forgiveness is a participation in Christ's salvation work. The Christian is given his share in Christ's work through baptism and other special gifts that he receives in order to serve the community, i.e. charisms (1 Cor 2:12). Grace offered to all those who believe in Christ through baptism, giving the faithful a share in Jesus death and resurrection (Col 2:13-14), brings also a special gift of Christ's forgiveness (Col 3:13). By virtue of the same gift, the believers are obliged to forgive one another. Practicing true forgiveness in everyday life means that fist and foremost the Christian needs to become its subject, that is, he should simply forgive others. However, at the same time he should ask for forgiveness and thus become the object of forgiveness.
