Small and medium enterprises have great difficulties in gaining funds from external sources for their development. They are usually tightly anchored to their regional environment, thus the analysis of financial support is essential on regional level. The aim of the paper is to verify empirically an impact of the degree of accessibility of capital and financial support in a region on the development of small and medium enterprises. The research was conducted on a random sample of 109 enterprise from the Malopolska and Slask (Silesia) regions which make up one region according to the NUTS-1 nomenclature.
