The article describes the possibility of the vector projection use for a synthetic measure construction. Classical measures of similarity are based on distance measures, which require defining of a reference object being the best possible object. In a consequence there is the necessity of a new pattern creation separately for each group of objects. The investigating of objects from outside the group can lead to incorrect results. If a given object is better than a pattern it will be taken as worse in such extent as it is better. The problem with the objects better as the pattem is solved by use of the projection. The objects worse as the pattern are given a measure lower than one, and the better - greater. The article presents the results of the vector projection use in the investigation of infrastructural and technical variables. There is shown the comparison of results of using a synthetic measure based on a distance measure and based on a projection.
