This paper examines the development of UK data protection law in terms of international data transfers after Brexit. It looks into the negotiations between the UK and the EU on their trade and cooperation agreement. Particular attention is paid to defining the conditions for maintaining adequate data protection after the UK has departed from the EU legal framework for data protection. This paper examines the specific adequacy decision granted to the UK by the European Commission and its likely future stability. Finally, the paper focuses on the question of possible future approaches to ensuring an adequate level of protection for personal data, which could have a significant impact on the trade and cooperation regime between the European Union and the United Kingdom in the future.
