The study deals with the process of replenishing Austrian army during the war in 1866 and its influence on the composition of military troops. Infantry regiment no. 73 established only shortly before the war is a specific example. The origin of its members demonstrates the method of the regiment’s establishment - men from other units were transferred there. Therefore, the actual composition of the regiment was not territorially identical with the assigned replenishing district.
