In this article, the author sums up the characteristic features of cover names of fortification and army units in the years 1935 – 1938. These names can be devided in two groups: monofunctional and difunctional. Monofunctional cover names are based on the relation to the reality without any secondary meaning, e. g. to a military action. On the other hand, the difunctional coves names include in the lexical unit two secret informations, e. g. about the object of fortification and with reference to the terrain.
