Autorka dokonuje przeglądu stanowisk i paradygmatów badawczych dotyczących sposobu rozwiązywania problemów reprezentacji świata w języku i rozumienia, czym jest językowy obraz świata. Problem ten przeszedł w literaturze przedmiotu pewną metamorfozę, a kierunek zmian związany był z ogólnymi zmianami paradygmatu uprawiania filozofii i nauki, a szerzej – także ze zmianą ustroju. Omawiane koncepcje filozofów języka autorka sprowadza do hasłowych siedmiu tez: Obraz istnieje na podobieństwo świata. Język jest twórcą ładu. Język jest twórcą obrazu świata. Język jest twórcą świata. Świat istnieje na podobieństwo swojego obrazu. Język jest światem, bo ma moc kreatywną. Język jest elementem świata, a wypowiedzi, które są dzianiem się, są namacalnym fenomenem ludzkiego świata. Konflikt między semantyką a pragmatyką rozwiązuje hermeneutyka Ricoeura i Gadamera.

The article is a survey of research paradigms concerning the linguistic representation of the world as well as the essence of the linguistic worldview as such. The conception has undergone a metamorphosis, parallel to that of the philosophical and scientific paradigms and, in a wider context, to political paradigms. The linguistic-philosophical conceptions are encapsulated in the form of seven slogans: The picture/view is the image of the world. Language introduces order. Language introduces worldview. Language creates the world. The world exists in the likeness of its image. Language is the world because it has creative power. Language is an element of the world and utterances (which are actions, tangible phenomena of the human world). The conflict between semantics and pragmatics is solved within the realm of the hermeneutics of Ricoeur and Gadamer.
