Scientific policy consists of goals and tasks, institutions and governmental actions supporting research (in public and private sector) and using it for social, economical and political purposes. The paper deals with such problems as: -when scientific policy was born? - what is its origin? -what is specific in it as compared to earlier forms of supporting research by the state?
