The technical development. touches all areas of our life and research, and improves also the possibilities of fieldwork in the Ethnomusicological Department of the Institute of Musicology of SAS. The technical advancement concerns all stages of research: the gathering of material, its evaluation, analysis, and edition, also in audio- and audiovisuals. In the paper is discussed the old, traditionally acknowledged technology of ethnomusicological research, which is up-graded to a much higher level, facilitated by the new retrieval of the results. It is possible to enter into a more effective and detailed research, especially by investigating the instrumental style and music of the folk music ensembles. This sort of improvement is appreciated especially by those engaged in instrumental research, which was always the most complicated and difficult one.
