The paper presents the perception of the risk associated with the usage electronic access to basic banking facility, which is checking account. The study was conducted in the Lublin vovoideship on a sample of 395 adults diverse in terms of gender, age and place of residence. The respondents were divided into three groups: users of electronic banking, users the brick-and-mortar banking and users of both distribution channels. The analysis showed that the level of electronic banking usage depends to a large extent on their knowledge of the Internet. People who frequently use modern technology are more realistic in their assessment of the risks associated with it. A more profound knowledge of the Internet and electronic banking principles raises the awareness of both risk and safety with using the electronic access to banking services.
