The article contains a description of choosen cultural problems which were raised by Daniel Passent in specific collection of feature articles. An authoress of the article brings up the characteristic features of the paragraph as a genre of both literature and journalism. She also points its wide range of differential topics. Passent’s paragraphs were divided into three main categories: first - paragraphs about culture with reference to politics, second - paragraphs about culture with entertaining aspect and finally - culture with literary aspect. The authoress’ conclusions focuse on clearly defined part of writings but they give us a huge image of raised issue and show most often used linguistic operations. Furthermore, we can also get to know Passent’s reflections concerning the genre he pursues. The whole is contained in theoretical and literary frames. On the basis of generic assumptions we analyse the specific texts and then verify them with those foundaments. The writer has the consience of generic determinants in feature articles what provides him the solid base to present his own original and rapacious style without the need of exceending established convention. We can observe Passent as aware of his rights and responsibilities writer who ensures us that the paragraph except raising present matters, leaves also timeless message.
