In relation to the progressing ageing process of the population in Poland grows a demand for health services and welfare. It causes growing costs of the health care and benefits processed by the system of the welfare. In the perspective of deepening this process one should start searching of system new solutions in order to meet the growing appearing needs amongst these categories of persons. In the article law and most often consumed social security benefits applying to solutions are described by elderly and disabled people, as well as some their costs.

W związku z postępującym procesem starzenia się populacji w Polsce rośnie zapotrzebowanie na usługi zdrowotne i opiekuńcze. Powoduje to rosnące koszty opieki zdrowotnej i świadczeń realizowanych przez system pomocy społecznej. W perspektywie pogłębiania tego procesu należy rozpocząć poszukiwania nowych rozwiązań systemowych w celu zaspokojenia rosnących potrzeb występujących wśród tych kategorii osób. W artykule przedstawione są obowiązujące rozwiązania prawne oraz najczęściej konsumowane świadczenia socjalne przez osoby starsze i niepełnosprawne, a także niektóre ich koszty.
