Logistic centers, which became strategic factor of regional development, has crucial impact on regional and local competitiveness. A statement that logistic centers are the future of regional development is today more a thesis than a topic of discussion. They have been appearing recently in the economically developed countries (usually in regional and urban systems) as a new organizational form which makes the logistics-related processes more effective. Logistic centers should be considered as an element of economic infrastructure in a region. Creation of logistic centers means infrastructural investments which stimulate economic development of communes, cities or counties. They become a factor which, to a large extent, determines the openness of a region, its competitiveness and capabilities of using the resources. The paper discusses various positive aspects of creating logistic centers in a region or in the peripheries of cities - the ones w hich have a beneficial influence on economic development of a given area.
