Since many years we can observe an increasing problem of covering the activity cost of cultural in stitutions from receiving subsidy an down income. At the same time growing deeper financial crisis of public funds causes the limitation of expenditures on culture. As a part of the constant quest for financial savings of culture, many institutions were closed or merged with the others of a similar activity. One of the basic problem of such institutions is a quest in market of new sources of activity funding which will guarantee in stitutions’ survival of difficult financial position of the government. The article discusses the funding sources of the Polish cultural institutions within the European Union. It stresses funding by the structural funds.
