The aim of this paper is to identify the flow between labour market stocks of employed, unemployed and economically inactive. The study is based on the data for the Polish labour market in the period of 2000–2010. Iin terms of scale and structure of outflow from unemployment, the worst was the year 2008,and 2009 was the worst for inflow. This time lag means that 2008 was a bad time for job searches, and 2009 for job loss. Firstly, this shows that in 2008 employers limited the admissions to work, and a year later, they had to introduce redundancies of existing staff. The inflow to unemployment is broken down into two groups: the proportions of inflow from the stocks of employed and economically inactive, which are held around at the ratio of 70/30, and 75/25 in recent years. Proportions of outflow from unemployment to employment and inactivity are held around a 50/50 level, with a maximum of 58/42. Differences in the distribution of inflow and outflow may indicate that outflow from inactivity to employment is significantly larger than the inflow.
