W dobie globalizacji istnieje wymóg zmian w systemach płatności i rozliczeń, spowodowany rozwojem technologii i trendów jej wykorzystania, przede wszystkim Internetu i sieci globalnych, interaktywnej komunikacji, infrastruktury bezpieczeństwa oraz zwiększenie komunikacji międzynarodowej. Artykuł opisu je wybrane systemy elektronicznych płatności działające w Europie i nowe trendy w ich rozwoju.
