Od kilku już lat obserwujemy dynamiczny rozwój handlu elektronicznego i elektronicznych systemów przetwarzania płatności na całym świecie, a przede wszystkim w Stanach Zjednoczonych i Unii Europejskiej. W opracowaniu omawiany jest projekt Globalnej Izby Rozliczeniowej - WATCH, dotyczący płatności transgranicznych.

The requirement for financial institutions to provide global, as well as domestic payment services, has become recently more prominent due to several important marketplace developments. Increasing globalization of business and economic integration has created demand for more efficient, cost-effective means of executing cross-border payments. The paper describes main features of the ' Worldwide Automated Transaction Clearing House" project (WATCH). The WATCH project addresses the market for the exchange, clearing and settlement of batch oriented cross-border payment instruction files between financial institutions.
