The author shows effects and determinants of Poland’s accession to the European Union from the viewpoint of the country’s regional development. Among many important statements concerning this topic it is worthwhile to point out the author’s appeal for adopting an active stance in the regional policy Held by Poland, carrying out institutional reforms on the regional scale, increasing financial outlays on regional projects and upgrading considerably their effective allocation.
