The Society of Borderland Guard (TSK) and the Union of People's Councils (ZRL) belonged to the most significant Polish social and political organizations operating within the Second Polish Republic in the 1920s. They were founded by activists of Związek Młodzieży Polskiej ZET (the Polish Youth Union ZET) for the purpose of propagating and protecting the Polish traditions in East-Borderlands. The history of TSK and ZRL has rarely been a subject of any scientific reflection up to now. There are many gaps in the historiography of the two organizations and the hitherto findings often need more verification and reinterpretation. Further studies are necessary on the development of territorial units and central institutions of the Borderland Guard and the People's Councils, their numbers, political influence and the scope of social effects, their elaborated political and economic-social concepts, the forms and intensiveness of activity of those organizations and the relationships between them and other entities of the political life in interwar Poland - parties, societies, outstanding politicians and state institutions. Findings thus produced will contribute to widened knowledge both of the political scene of the Second Polish Republic and of the history of the Polish East-Borderland in the 20th century.
