This article is the analysis of fifty two numbers of the women’s magazine which was very popular in nineteenth century. The author studies the texts connected with family and health problems. The undertaken attempts show that such issues constitute a large group. Women were noticed as mothers, wives, housemaids and protectors of family life’s calm. Journalists encouraged readers to widen their knowledge of pedagogy and psychology so that they would bring up conscious human beings. The role of the morality, the tradition, the literature and the strong attachment to homeland in creating the personality of children was emphasized the most. “Bluszcz” was against the divorce concerned as an attack on a family, human and divine laws. Not only a good relationship between family members but also a proper contact with servants was important, because it influenced an atmosphere at home. Furthermore, in “Bluszcz” it was written about garden design, increasing the area of women’s activity. The last part of that article applies to hygiene, health and medical guidance. “Bluszcz” tried to come up to readers’ expectations, but what is more vital, it tried to broaden their horizons.
