The article analyzes the problem of the state's role in the theories of convergence against the background of the thesis about convergenoes in evolution of capitalism and socialism promoted by many theorists of the bourgeosis economy end polytology. In this context, а grat deal of attention has been devoted to J . K. Galbraith's views , and especially to his thesis that the process of transformations in the capitalist economy tends in certain spheres towards solutions existing in socialist states. A widely disoussed example of such a sphere is the national economic planning, The author underlines, however, that for J . K. Galbraith planning is an imperative of technology and i t does not result from the very essence of social relations, that it calls for a change of goals and priorities, because at present they are subordinatd to the interests of capital.
