The transformation of Polish economy is a real structural revolution. Replacing old institutions and changing the mentality of people require time needed to assimilate new behaviours and understand the new rules of game. This is a process of a necessary “resocialization” of society, in which many contradictions appear, for example, between new and expressed interests. The most important issue in formulating and implementing the conceptions of any economic or political strategies is understanding the fact that contradictions cannot be simply liquidated. On the other hand, it is necessary to do away with some existing myths. Among such problems is the attitude of the society towards the State, giving way to the myth of large regions, free market or free competition, or finally integration with the European Union as the only way of solving immediately all major problems faced by Poland. In order to reduce the existing tensions there should be tapped, first of all, active involvement of the Polish society. A skillful tapping of people’s organizational skills may yield better effects that passive awaiting that the Centre, its successful institutions and units will solve the emerging problems. The role of social organizations in this process should not be negated either. There should be considered, first of all, the industrial and trade position of such a country as Poland. Europe seeks the world economy based on two directions: east-west and north-south. This model must certainly be still improved and perhaps replaced by a certain hierarchy of production systems, in which Poland could find its place and its market as a “middleman”country.
