The author analyzes the problem of changes in structures of economies of the European CMEA countries in connection with necessity of increasingly wider participation of these countries in the International division of labour. Adjustment to new requirements posed by extended reproduction at the present development stage of these countries is synonymous with necessity of coordinating economic policy at the Council's level. That is especially important in the situation when all long-term economic ties with capitalist states, as it has been shown in practice, happen to be unreliable. Moreover, the author perceives a close relationship between scientific-technical and technological progress and expansion of trade both within the CMEA and between the East and the West.
