The article contains a synthetic presentation of results of research on factors determining organizational effectiveness. The research was conducted in 136 Polish work organizations and it proved that: - particular effectiveness measures do not constitute a coherent system: most measures are not linked with one another, - there is an insignificant relation ship between the level of organizational effectiveness and features of its organizational structure, - an even smaller (almost zero relationships) exists between the level of effectiveness and features of the organization's environment (including features of buyers and suppliers), - the only significant relation ships can be observed between a part of effectiveness measures and organizational size (number of people employed, involved capital) and the level of automation of technological processes connected with it. Research findings show that bigger organizations are economically more effective being simultaneously characterized with some unfavourable signs of the social system disintengration.
