The condition of functioning of the insurance company on the market is a proper calculation of net premiums. It concerns a single insured as well as a whole portfolio. In the paper selected theoretical rules of setting net premiums in automobile insurance are presented. It has been evaluated what influence the distribution of the size of damage form and parameters have on the net premium size. Three damage size distributions have been considered: Pareto distribution, logarithmic-normal distribution and gamma distribution.
