The industrial company, like any other relatively isolated structure, implements its objectives operating in a definite environment. In this situation a desire to achieve objectives formulated in categories or the product quality will primarily boil down to improvement of methodological rationality of decisions being made by all subjects of this system. Improvement of effectiveness of the company activity in the discussed area calls for solution of two essential problems, and namely: - need for elaboration of the product-market strategy, - improvement of the information system to meet the requirements posed by the new product. The strategy will not only stimulate development but it will also determine the effective utilization of information both when the strategy is being worked out and in new solutions, which in the new strategy will be approved for introduction. To obtain a proper quality of the product the company must not only adapt itself to changes occuring in the environment but it should also influence the sources of these changes. For the information system to be able to perform the required functions it must be perfected in two waye: 1) applying differentiation through objectives, developmental tasks (in line with provisions of the chosen strategy), 2) utilizing adaptation through the work process (following the regulation process being under way). The above mentioned problems are discussed in the artitfle. The influence of the information system on the product quality is linked with the problem and decisional area of the management level it serves; the industrial company linked with its environment.
