Languages of publication
Abstracts
The aim of the study, was a methodological evaluation of questions included in questionnaires commonly applied in sociological research on the social structure. The questions are analyzed from the point of view of their competence and effectiveness. By competence the author means their efficiency in providing unit information sought by the interviewer. Thus to determine the competence of a given question it is necessary to determine the number of significant answers. Effectiveness of the questions refers to their efficiency in supplying true and sought information. And accordingly determination of the effectiveness of a given question boils down to estimation of the number of accurate answers. The above evaluation of questionnaire questions is mainly based on results of verification studies carried out by a research team from the Department of Methods and Techniques of Social Studies at the University of Łódź over the period of 1976-1977.
