The following article is concerned with the presence of Juliusz Słowacki’s literature in High School at the threshold of the third millennium. The analysis of the problem is based on the XIX century literature readers views, on the statistical analisis of the XX century reading, which were published, surreys conreyed among high school leameners and students as well as own observations. The most important points were presenting factors contributing to the poets popularity among students in comparison to the general reading situation in Poland, and also establishing the Polish teachers’ role in the process of written word popularity increase. The article ends up with a number of proposals concerning the ways and solutions to the problems of general reading in our country, making Słowacki works more popular and making the students familiar with the poet’s heritage as well as updating the creations of the artist.
