Niniejszy artykuł jest poświęcony kwestii wiedzy, stanowiącej element kapitału ludzkiego. W opracowaniu przedstawiono więc jej rolę oraz powiązanie z innymi elementami tego kapitału. Wskazano także, iż wiedza może być zdobywana w różnorodny sposób, jednak przede wszystkim w procesie kształcenia, w tym kształcenia na poziomie studiów wyższych. Dlatego w artykule opisano poziom inwestycji w szkolnictwo wyższe w Polsce, jak również rezultaty tych inwestycji w postaci poziomu wykształcenia społeczeństwa polskiego.

The paper concerns the issue of knowledge – a constituent of human capital. The author explores the role of knowledge and its connections with other elements of human capital. It is pointed out that although knowledge can be obtained in various ways, the formal education process, including university education, is the most significant of these. This is why the paper discusses the question of expenditure on higher education in Poland and the results of these investments, namely the educational level of the Polish society.
