This article focuses on idioms and proverbs that represent the concept of the wind. The language units (both idioms and proverbs), used in language studies of the picture of the world, extend the perspective of new contexts. The research has shown, that many of the analysed exeplifications have an anthropocentric character, and refer to the human qualities as appearance and the psyche, character traits, behaviors and activities. A significant group of units named by the wind refer to atmospheric phenomena. The analysed idioms and proverbs are characterized by a fairly large synonymy.
