Geneza i dzieje Strzelców Historycznych oraz ich obecność we współczesnym życiu lokalnych społeczności jest coraz szerzej znana. Potęga takich stowarzyszeń tkwi jednak nie w bogatym ceremoniale, lecz w profesjonalizmie strzeleckim. Tysiącletnia już historia organizacji strzeleckich zaciekawia i zadziwia. Literatura, zwłaszcza obcojęzyczna, obejmuje niezwykle wartościowe pozycje przedstawiające tradycję bractw strzeleckich, jednakże kompleksowego opracowania dotyczącego zasad współczesnego sportu strzeleckiego w tych formacjach - nie znaleziono. Celem pracy stało się ukazanie wybranych aspektów profesjonalizmu strzeleckiego, kultywowanych obecnie zasad sztuki - fundamentalnych dla świetności i elitarności wspólnot strzeleckich oraz popularyzacja wiedzy na temat oryginalnego polskiego wkładu w strzelania strzelców historycznych - pierwszej znanej tarczy przestrzennej (trójwymiarowej) kołkowanej.

The history of Historic Marksmen’s’ Guilds. and their part in the contemporary life of local communities is becoming increasingly more popular. However, the power of these associations is not based on spectacular ceremonies, but rather on professional shooting. The thousand-year history of shooting organisations is intriguing and amazing. The subject literature includes extremely interesting items that present the tradition of shooting brotherhoods; yet a comprehensive study on the principles of the shooting art in contemporary formations has not been found. The aim of this study was to discuss selected aspects of shooting professionalism and the current principles of the art that are fundamental for the magnificence and elitism of shooting communities, as well as to popularise the original Polish contribution in this field, i.e. the first known spatial (three-dimensional) shooting shield with pegs.
