Still today questions are raised about Margaret Thatcher's leadership abilities. Questions such as: whether and to what extent the former Prime Minister was a doctrinaire without essential political competence? Did the policies implemented during her occupancy break the traditions of classical British conservatism? Did the Iron Lady's commercialism destroy traditional social ties of Tory England? Did her populism undermined the position of the British political establishment? Or can we talk about the economic miracle of the Thatcher era? By seeking answers to these and other questions the author of this article refers to the opinion of the several respected researchers of the New Right and the Tory traditionalism. He also harks back to the criticism of Thatcherism and the Iron Lady, which were the works of enemies within her own party, as well as of the intellectual circles of the left. Frequently those who have distanced, and those who currently distance themselves from the closer relationships with British conservatism.
