W pracy opisano pierwsze metody leczenia chirurgicznego uszkodzeń więzadeł krzyżowych stawu kolanowego oraz historyczny rozwój endoprotezoplastyki na przykładzie stawu biodrowego. Uwzględniono również rozwój ortopedii w Polsce.

In this article the first surgical methods of cruciate ligaments reconstruction are described as well as the development of endoprosthetics on the example of the hip joint. Some aspects of the history of orthopaedics in Poland are also reported.
