The Czech violin educationist, Otakar Ševčik, is the author of comprehensive corpora of the pedagogical works. This paper aims to prepare the introductory review of the content of these works, mostly forgotten today, some of which remain just in manuscripts. The goal of the article is an attempt to encompass holistically Ševčik’s pedagogical method, as well as bring closer the silhouette of this distinguished teacher, who can be considered one of the co-creators of the Polish violin school (as the teacher of Eugenia Umińska and others). The author of the article reflects on the innovation of Ševčik’s work in the context of violin pedagogy tradition. The starting thesis is the constatation of his “total” understanding of the performance craft issues, which consist of technique details (intonation, bowing, articulation, playing in positions, polyphonic playing, etc.) as well as the expression factors.

Czeski pedagog skrzypiec Otakar Ševčik jest autorem obszernego korpusu dzieł pedagogicz- nych. Celem niniejszego referatu jest dokonanie wstępnego przeglądu zawartości tych dzieł, dziś w większości zapomnianych, częściowo spoczywających w rękopisach. Celem artykułu jest próba całościowego ogarnięcia metody pedagogicznej Ševčika, jak również przybliżenie sylwetki tego wybitnego nauczyciela, który może być uważany za jednego z współtwórców polskiej szkoły skrzypcowej (jako nauczyciel Eugenii Umińskiej i in.). Autor artykułu bierze pod rozwagę nowatorstwo dzieła Ševčika w kontekście tradycji pedagogiki skrzypcowej. Wyjściową tezą jest konstatacja „totalnego” rozumienia przez niego problematyki rzemiosła wykonawczego, na które składają się zarówno szczegóły techniki (intonacja, smyczkowanie, artykulacja, gra w pozycjach, gra wielogłosowa itd.), jak i czynniki wyrazowe.
