The article presents the analysis of the contents and views of „Gazeta Grudziądzka” [Grudziądz Magazine] and its publisher Wiktor Kulerski on the issues concerning the process of the rebirth of Polish statehood during the Great War and the first years of independence. Being a supporter of the view unpopular in the Prussian partition, i.e. the activism, or the tactical cooperation with Germans for the reconstruction of statehood, Wiktor Kulerski clearly distanced himself from the concepts of passive anticipation of the victory of the Triple Entente in the world war, promoted by the National Democracy and popular among many Poles. After Poland regained its independence, „Gazeta Grudziądzka”, pursuing the political concepts of its publisher, promoted the slogans of the so-called „third way” between the social conservatism and the radical standpoint of left-wing parties. „Gazeta Grudziądzka” commented also on political, social and economic situation of the period. Initially, the narrative was full of hope and enthusiasm associated with the prospect of the return of Pomerania to the Polish state. However, it quickly turned into doubt and disappointment as a result of a confrontation with a difficult reality.
