Integration is a process of establishing mutual relations and cooperation between states, which can take various forms depending on the goals of those states. When the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States were restructuring their economy, their priority was not integration, but gaining independence necessary for implementing radical economic, political and social reforms. The article presents the unique characteristics of the economic integration of the member states of the Commonwealth, and describes the reasons for a low effectiveness of integration processes in the region. The issue of integration is presented in detail on the example of the Kyrgyz Republic. The text discusses the problems of that state and their influence on the participation of Kyrgyz in the regional integration processes.
