The article presents various scientific research done to interpret Rahab’s request for a “sign of truth” in Jos 2:12–14. The research consists of a literary, semantic and theological analysis of the biblical text in its synchronic and diachronic perspectives. The truth referred to in Josh 2:12–14 is the truth about YHWH revealed to and experienced by the Israelites, and known by Rahab. The sign of belief in it and acceptance of it is to show goodness. Rahab showed such goodness to the Israelite spies, and she asked the spies for such goodness for herself and her family.

Artykuł prezentuje dociekania i analizy dokonane w celu interpretacji prośby Rachab o „znak prawdy” w Joz 2,12–14. Badania polegają na literackiej, semantycznej i teologicznej analizie biblijnego tekstu w jego perspektywie synchronicznej i diachronicznej. Prawda, o której mowa w Joz 2,12–14, jest prawdą o JHWH objawioną Izraelitom i przez nich doświadczoną, a poznaną przez Rachab. Znakiem przekonania o niej i jej przyjęcia jest okazywanie dobroci. Tak motywowaną dobroć Rachab okazała izraelskim szpiegom i o taką dobroć prosiła ona szpiegów dla siebie i swojej rodziny.
