The author presents the Polish, understood here as Piast, cult of St. Peter against the backdrop of the cult of this saint in medieval Europe. She underscores that the importance of the most zealous of the Apostles was immensely reinforced by the fact that he was venerated in the capital of Christianity, a city headed by the Pope, the earthly successor of the saint. The article describes the circumstances of the rise of the cult of St. Peter on Piast lands paying special attention to the presence of the saint’s relics and their veneration according to the local manner.
