The article shows how the events of World War I and its consequences for the world, Europe and especially for Belarus, are interpreted in the Belarusian history textbooks for secondary schools. It discusses the contradictions and a lack of consequence in the way of presenting historical processes, which may be explained by an ambiguous and discrepant politics of the memory pursued in the Republic of Belarus.
