Głoszenie katechez do młodych dokonuje się zawsze w określonym kontekście. Artykuł omawia najpierw katechezę z perspektywy teologii słowa Bożego, następnie wyjaśnia interesującą etymologię terminu „katecheza”, przypomina niezmienną istotę treści katechez oraz podkreśla, że na jej skuteczny przekaz wpływa doświadczenie wspólnoty wiary, wzajemnego wsłuchiwania się i dzielenia interpretacją życia przez pryzmat słowa Bożego. W artykule omówiona jest także ważna rola autorytetu wpływającego na młodzież. Może nim być głosiciel katechez, o ile zachowuje spójność sposobu życia z nauczaniem. Fascynującymi autorytetami, wciąż atrakcyjnymi dla młodzieży, są święci. W kontekście Światowych Dni Młodzieży 2016 skoncentrowanych wokół słów „błogosławieni miłosierni” warto przypomnieć sylwetki młodych świętych czyniących miłosierdzie. Wśród nich jest ich wielu, którzy byli związani z Krakowem. Jak wieloaspektowe jest pojęcie miłosierdzia, tak różnorodni są święci, którzy je praktykowali. Tym, co najbardziej zostaje w pamięci, jest nie tylko treść, co doświadczenie wspólnoty i współuczestnictwa w ważnym wydarzeniu.
The catechesis to the youth is always delivered in the given context. This article explains first of all the etymology of the name “catechesis” and it’s meaning as seen through the lens of the theology of the word of God. The core of the catechetical message remains unchanged through the ages and organically identical with the salvific message of Jesus and his Apostles. What plays an important role in the sharing of faith is the vivid community of faith. Another important factor of the catechesis is the authority of the person, who preaches the word of God. One has authority, when that person lives according to the proclaimed message. The saints are the people who have authority and are still fascinating for the youth. It is right then - in the context of the approaching World Youth Day in Krakow 2016, based on the words “Blessed are the merciful” - to point out at so many saints, who used their energy to express their love to God through the merciful service to the people in need. As being merciful is so divers, so different are saints, who practiced mercy. What remains after the catechesis is not so much the subject, but the whole context, the experience of the community and participation in a meaningful event.
