The practice of social work today shows the important role of moral virtues in the fulfillment of life tasks. Therefore, the aim of this publication is to show from an ethical prespective fundamental virtues which are the imperative of fruitful and effective social work. The most important moral virtues are respect of human dignity, responsiblity, love of a neighbour, mercy, justice, honesty, truthfulness and faithfulness. Other important moral virtues can be loyality, respect, kindness, wise discernment, generosity and solidarity. All these virtues which stand as the basis of the effective social work are taken into consideration in this publication.
