NOWADAYS WE CAN observe very large social development and huge also changes on political scene. Comparing the electoral results from 1997 to 2002 with those from 2005 and 2006 we can notice many differences. They concern legislation, electoral platforms, programs of political parties, character of election campaign, electors and especially their preferences. If political parties want to achieve a success on a such competitive market they have to apply unconventional and not used before marketing tools and methods. One of them can be a suitably constructed and effective electoral list, which is an indispensable element of every election campaign. Nowadays most of studies on electoral subjects concentrate rather on investigation of electorate. The principal objective of this article was describing and analyzing problems connecting not only electors but also chosen politicians and their personal details. This article presents how the place on electoral register, education, occupation, sex and age of candidates influence electoral list effectivity and electoral results. Additionally this article shows electoral preferences in small cities where oblige proportional representation of the people act. Moreover, this article presents registers of electors who took part in 2005 parliamentary election and 2006 municipal elections in cities in which primary elections in Poland are organized. These primaries are intended to show electoral preferences for a wider population. An analysis of electoral registers from Nysa, Bochnia, Września and Wieruszów show us that the best chances in elections have candidates placed on the first place on the list. Additionally very important are occupation, education and sex. Finally the most suitable candidate for a politician is a male – academic teacher aged between 45–50.
