The subject of this paper is the analysis of the electoral campaign of the Civic Platform of the Polish Republic (PORP) for the European Union Parliament in 2009. The Civic Platform reached its strategic goal and maintained its leading position on the voting market. The POPR candidates won 44.43% of votes, which got them 25 of 50 seats available. The POPR’s success was the complex outcome of their high pre-election polls, the effective campaign run by Donald Tusk’s government, well constructed lists of candidates, the variety of marketing techniques, the conflicts among leftist parties and, last but not least, the fact that the opposition party Law and Justice was reluctant to address indecisive, centrally oriented voters. Th e elections for the EU Parliament confirmed the then dominating Platform’s position on the Polish political scene and were the introduction to further political struggle preceding presidential and municipal elections in 2010.
