The article Euroregion Baltic vs. Other Euroregions on the Swedish Border is a comparison between the old Scandinavian cross-border co-operation organizations and a relatively new Euroregion Baltic. Swedish regions participate in 12 cross-border cooperation organizations. Nine of them are strictly Nordic euroregions, the oldest of them co-operating since 1923. Considering the long period of existence, cultural similarties due to common history (e.g. understaindg each other’s languages), legal and administrative compatibility as well as similar level of economic development, the cooperation between the Scandinavian euroregions is relatively smooth in many areas. Euroregion Baltic is in comparison a new organization (created in 1998) with fewer participating countries characterised by vast social, economic and cultural differences. The aim of the article is to compare the euroregional organizations, goals and activities and observe how they influence the cross-border cooperation.
